I’m Pablo Ponce. I was born in the city of La Plata – Argentina. There in my hometown I studied Scenography at the Faculty of Fine Arts (UNLP) where I obtained a degree in 1998. Right after that, I worked three years in Mexico as a professional scenographer. In 2012 I achieved my second diploma at the Department of Ceramics at Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam – The Netherland.
Since then I have been busy with extensive experience as a scenographer as well as an autonomous visual artist.
Currently & sinds 2002 I’m based in Amsterdam. My art works have been exhibited during several individual and group exhibitions in galleries, art platforms and museums in Europe.
I’m visual artist and I define myself as a Homo-universalis, such as the Renaissance artist, I work with different art disciplines to push the limits.
My work is the fusion between the world of theater and the visual arts. I working with different disciplines and techniques in relation with the concep.
All the material I use has a specific function and a symbolic meaning. Every technique and material can help me to further develop the same concept, and the result is also different. At the same time I use my experience with the material, immersed in dealing with the concept. For example with the same subject i made a drawing after that a painting, etchings and sculptures.
The work that i will showing on this art page, its one part of my art work. I will showing etchings and oilpaings.
On this serie i use symbolic element that exist i our culture and in our daily life, together with metaphysical and mythological elements. To created a narrative composition. I creating my own syncretic universe. I created a fusion in between the Europeanen and Latin America cultures.
I am searching for the answers there are inside of myself. Themes such as nature, cosmos, freedom, identity light and dark are part of this new work that I am developing.
"Nature is therefore the most direct source of knowledge," says Jacob Bohme.
I know nature is also inside of myself. In Latin America the prehispanic cultures they believe we are a part of nature, of the cosmos and not the center as we start thinking during and after the renaissance.
The cosmos is nature and the microcosmos is within us. My life is always a process of change and movement as in nature, everything be transmute, it is the alchemy of transformation. In my identity the European ADN and the culture from Latin America, they exist in my self. I am the result of a cultural syncretisme.
